Book of Dreams
I have been waking up from vivid dreams. They evaporate so fast that they're quickly forgotten.
So, a week ago, I placed an empty notebook by the side of the bed, and started writing down my dreams as soon as I woke up. I'm remembering more when an alarm wakes me up--maybe because the dreams are interrupted. If can't remember very much, but at least write a little piece of the dream, sometimes more of it comes back throughout the day.
When I look back at what I've written, a lot comes back to memory. So far, no robots, but in one week I've had dreams about school buses, Cape Town, socks, monster sculptures, laptops, mannekins, steam irons, extension cords, a remodeled hair salon, & our old house featuring a brand new water slide. Maybe I can use some of the dreams for paintings.

Hitch-hikers
First of three new pieces featuring giraffes... Whoops, didn't notice the reflection of the louver doors in the resin when I photographed this...

Carats

The design on this 10x10 piece wraps around all of the edges. The original idea was to feature a girl robot loving her diamonds--something for which "size matters." While painting it, I thought it would be fun to add 3 carrots too.
I'm continuing to learn more about the resin process. By accident, I found out it is *very* important to keep the resin uncontaminated. I had re-used a stir stick that had previously been used to stir oil paint, and tiny specks of dried paint broke off into the mixture. They were too small to notice. When the resin cured, there were dimples in the surface, each centered around a speck of paint--very strange looking!
The next day, I re-coated the piece to smooth everything out, and now it's all better. Whew! I'll get this on my website once I finish the rest of the series.
