Work in the studio

I sometimes wonder if other artists paint one piece at a time, or do they juggle a few like I do? Here are 3 pieces in work in my studio right now:
The red one is almost done, but I think it will need a second coat of resin. I'm liking the little toy robot guy.

I coated the blue one with Squatbot and his spider friend tonight. In suspense to how the resin will look in the morning.

This one has a way to go. I've been trying different things with it, trying to get it to look how I imagined.

Secession, Wonderland

Friday was the Artspan mixer at Secession Art and Design, and it was packed! Mike Kimball's and Hilary Williams' work was great as usual, but what struck me most was Rob "Robz" Sakovich's work painted on racked and stacked spray paint cans. Way to re-use materials! Very cool in person. The curvature of cans changes the work with your angle of view.

Next: A quick stop at Wonderland to see their new exhibit, "Impacto." My favorites were from Eric Joyner and Alec Huxley.

Alec Huxley, Fun is Astronomic

We picked up a Wildewood print "A. Migo" from Antonio Torrez Solis. Love his stuff! Must be the Ray Gun--Bill and I also picked up a ray gun looking piece from Gaston Yagmourian earlier in the week at Rise Japan. Theme here...

Eric Cheng at Barber Lounge

One of the artists showing work at the Barber Lounge 4th Anniversary Party was Eric Cheng. He blogged a bunch of nice photos of the event, including shots of his underwater photography.

Eric's underwater photography is stunning. He captures a whole different world. Wow. Why have I not done my scuba certification?

Rise Japan

Rise Japan Vol.2 is happening this Thursday at ARC Gallery, 1246 Folsom St, San Francisco, 7-11pm.

Artwork will be hung salon style, everything $100 or less, with proceeds to benefit the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

I have donated a bright shiny johnnybotts painting, and will be there to support the cause.

Hope to see a lot of people there!
