"Showering Outdoors"

Craig and Rebecca saw "Showering Outdoors" at Open Studios, and were inspired to commission 3 paintings showing robots doing whatever robots might do in a bathroom. Hmmm, fun! I'm thinking... Any ideas?

Name the Painting

I have one painting for Open Studios that does not have a name. I'm asking people to get creative, and think of a fun title. Whoever comes up with the best title will win the painting for free, and I'll mail it to them after the weekend. If you can't make it to Open Studios, but still want to participate, that's OK too. I'll post all the titles on my blog, and the final winning name.

The Sweet Spot

OK, originally this had a different title--"Perfect Fit," but got changed at the last. In the latest series of paintings on recycled wood, this one seems to hit the *sweet spot*--it is not the biggest, not the smallest, but just right. And it includes Soft Monster at the horizon! On recycled wooden drawer panels.

Daniel B-11-767

Wood for this piece was once a dresser drawer stamped with 11-767 on the back. The meaning of that is a mystery, but it seems appropriate to include it in the title. Because it uses recycled wood, I like to include images of the trees where it might have come from.

SOMArts

Artspan had an interactive art project where people painted tiny canvases right on the spot.

Leslie Lowinger drew the profile and headed up the project.

The result is a collage with bits and pieces from many of the artists. As the pieces neared the edge of the profile, people started painting their pieces to match the edges of the silhouette.

Jeanne Hauser & Cheryl looked on...

Perfect Fit

Today I poured a final coat of resin on new tree stump paintings, so they'll be ready for Open Studios. The resin brings out the wood grain! The look reminds me of Charles's boat interiors--high gloss shiny wood everywhere. "Perfect Fit" is th e title of the triptych showing Soft Monster with two paws on the hillside.
