Powell-Mason Line

Years before we lived here, we visited San Francisco and did all the things that tourists do, including riding the cable cars. This painting imagines robot tourists from the future coming to experience the city.

I have painted 7 new SF pieces on recycled windows with "Golden-Gate-Orange" frames, to show at City Art Gallery March 1st-31st. Opening reception is Friday, March 5th, 7-10 PM.

SF windows in process

Yay! More San Francisco paintings! The theme is San Francisco 3008: the city is still a top tourist attraction, and robot tourists from the far galaxies come to visit.

I'm recycling old windows, painting 7 pieces to show at City Art Gallery in March. The final products will have painted backgrounds, but it's kind of fun seeing through to the next one while they are in process. Please come see them when they are done!

Opening reception:
Friday March 5th 7-10PM

City Art Gallery
828 Valencia Street between 19th and 20th
San Francisco, CA.
Parking is available on 21st street between Valencia and Mission streets.

Yoshiwara

In the 1927 film Metropolis, Yoshiwara is the night club where the transformed "evil" Robot Maria dances and drives men crazy with lust. It's all very innocent by today's standards, and quite funny.

Keep Your 'lectric Eye on Me

Leaving Burning Man last year, I listened to one of the BRC pirate radio stations as my truck crawled to the exit for 3 hours. They played a long stretch of David Bowie songs from years ago that brought back poignant memories. I was alone for my drive and a little sad for the week to be over, so the songs seemed perfectly suited. Lyrics from “Moonage Daydream” provide the title for this painting: “Keep your “lectric Eye on Me.” Cyclop always seems to want to be upside down.
